Yes. Using Ruxter for free is simple and easy to do. Ruxter charges for the advertising space at the top of each page and for text messages that exceed the free 25 texts per month. Any Ruxter user can create, operate and use a site at no charge simply by not sending out direct text promotions. Ruxter mobile sites can be used for free in much the same way web sites are used on the stay-at-home Internet – by navigating to them. To use your Ruxter site for free, simply tell your customers, members, friends, family and fans that you have a Ruxter site and have them navigate to it through the Ruxter.mobi portal using their mobile phone web browser.
For instance, if you’ve created a Ruxter mobile web site with the keyword ‘bobsdiner’ and you’re in zip code 66206; your customers can find you on Ruxter.mobi by searching for ‘bobsdiner’ in that area code. Any specials, updates and promotions you create will be available at your site, your customers will just need to remember to navigate to your Ruxter site rather than having a text message tell them your message.
Please note that the Ruxter services as described can be used free-of-charge. User’s mobile devices and mobile phone data plans are not Ruxter services and will be charged according to user’s mobile phone contracts (see more detail below).
Ruxter’s free Basic tier includes up 25 text messages every month at no charge to you. The number of monthly included texts on paid tiers varies depending on the tier. Click here for detailed information on our subscription tiers.
A message is one Ruxter Message sent to one subscriber. So, if you have 100 subscribers to your site and send one Ruxter Message, that is 100 Messages. If you have more subscribers than available message credits, you can purchase an SMS package. This is done by clicking the Buy Additional Messages link on the Messages tab. Message Packages are priced as follows:
Much like roll-over minutes, Ruxter Messages that have been purchased never expire.
Mobile carriers charge outside services like Ruxter for use of their text messaging systems. Ruxter uses the bulk purchasing power available from pooling all Ruxter site owner’s messaging needs together to negotiate a low cost for text messages. Ruxter can then extend this negotiated SMS charge to Ruxter site owners to allow very low-cost text message rates.
We’ve designed the Ruxter Site Builder to be simple to use, so we’ve tried to limit various categories and menus, but we’ll add more if Ruxter users ask. If you have a category that doesn’t fit into the others, please go to Contact and give us a little more information about yourself and your business or organization.
Ruxter works on any data capable mobile phone with a browser. Estimates place this figure at around 95% of all active mobile phones. Almost all newer data capable mobile phones should work with Ruxter sites.
Share your keyword with your customers and friends. Put your keyword on a sign in your business, on your business card, and on your website. The more customers you have opt-in to receive your messages, the more customers you can connect with.
Ruxter users who receive SMS text or navigate to Ruxter sites through the Ruxter.mobi portal will be charged based on their mobile phone contract and data plan from their mobile phone carrier. Many mobile carriers are providing unlimited data plans at a fixed rate. The popularity of the mobile web and unlimited data plans is continuing to lower the cost of these services.
